Connect with and interview members of the CS community outside of the classroom.

Requirements

Satisfy by completing ALL of the following:

1. Interview $2$ juniors, seniors, or USFCS alums and reflect on their responses.

Excel by completing ALL of the following:

1. Interview $2$ juniors, seniors, or USFCS alums and reflect on their responses, and…
2. Interview $1$ USF CS-related instructor or staff member, or CS professional unaffiliated with USF.

Details

Interviews must be at least 15 minutes and no more than 30 minutes. You may count the duration as out-of-class work.

Before each interview, you must prepare a brief bio of the interviewee and 5 sample questions to be approved by the instructor. These questions will serve as a starting point, but you may deviate from these depending on the conversation as long as the discussion remains professional.

You must take notes -or- receive explicit permission to record the audio. Do not record audio without explicit permission. Do not post your notes or audio anywhere.

You must fill out a reflection after each interview while the experience and details are fresh.

Preapprovals

To satisfy this learning outcome, the following individuals are preapproved:

• Any current CS major that is a junior, senior, or graduate student in their 2nd year
• Any alum with a BSCS, BSDS, MSCS, MSWS, MSDS, or MSAN degree from USF

To excel in this outcome, the following individuals are also preapproved:

• Anyone in the undergraduate CS faculty listing
• Anyone in the graduate CS faculty listing
• Anyone that works full-time in the CS office (HR 402) or CS Support office (HR 408)
• Anyone that serves as a mentor in the Tech Partnerships Mentoring Program

Reach out to the instructor to receive approval for CS-related instructors from other departments or CS professionals unaffiliated with USF.
